Do you see …
… what I see. This is a collection of mostly autumnal images taken near home over the last week. My happy place is out and about in Northumberland and then sat in front of my two 19 inch screens dabbling with Photoshop and On1. The screen on my left produces the brightest and cleanest image whilst the one on my right is slightly fuzzier with a yellow tinge. In other words, what I see and what you see will depend on the devices we use for viewing. I could calibrate the screens but unless everyone does the same, what would be the point.
All of this is academic except that last night I viewed the fourth image on a Lenovo tablet and it looked like an explosion in a paint factory. I have a tendency to over-saturate and my Fuji X100s is set up to emulate Fujichrome Velvia which, as it says on Wiki, “many see its high color saturation as unrealistic”. Hence the original question – do you see what I see – we will never know (the motorcycle was taken with a smartphone, there being nowhere convenient to carry a camera on this particular set of wheels):

Oh I get that Robin!!! Not got enough muscle strength to even ride pillion these days but I still remember that wonderful sense of freedom 🙂 The bike of my dreams would have been a café racer Triton!!

I agree Sue, even on my better screen, the greens in particular are verging on the supernatural 🙂

A lovely autumn bunch😊 Colour saturation is such personal taste, and if I ask my hubby, who is colour blind, then all images should look punchy enough to be drunk!!

The second one actually looks kind of washed-out on my monitor. Which might not be a good sign as I’m trying to sort out a whole bunch of wedding pictures I took the other weekend before bride and groom get back to Edinburgh and its possible I’ve got the white balance and saturation all wrong…
Aha, well spotted Patrick, it is washed out – that one has had the On1 gum bichromate treatment. Are you getting the wedding pictures printed because that’s another whole new set of variables 🙂
BTW – the plan is that Jamie will be heading north for the weekend of 24th
I’m leaving the choice of prints to them – very much a last minute thing in that I turned up at the venue and the groom took me aside and said there’d been a problem with the guy they’d paid to do it and could I fill in. Would probably have had different gear with me if I’d known ahead of time.

Beautiful autumnal images, Robin. I love the lake forest reflection. I never see your images as over-saturated. I wonder how others see my photos, too. Older photos that I did on a Dell Windows computer need to be toned down when I look at them on my Mac. But I was in an saturation phase when I first discovered photo editing. I think that’s the first thing people go crazy with, until they find other effects to play with. 🙂

Have to say Robin that they all look fine to me on my (fairly new) iMac screen which generally seems to be pretty faithful to original colours, even the tree and autumn leaves isn’t too lairy ! Love the bike 🙂
Many thanks Jane – the Triumph is a keeper and subject to an ongoing minor modification programme. The Ducati may be swapped for something more conservative – it thrills and scares in equal measure 😉
Aha! My brother-in-law used to have a Ducati monster, I think I remember he managed to drop it and bend it somewhere – he’s a Triumph guy now!
Your brother-in-law is a man of good taste – my problem is that the Monster sounds and looks so wonderful that I will have difficulty parting with it. I will just have to have three bikes methinks – convincing the good lady may be the biggest challenge 😉
