Bealach na Bà …

This was a novel experience.  I have been active on WordPress for just under three years and while I exchange comments with other bloggers on a regular basis, I have never met anyone face-to-face. This changed on Sunday when we climbed Bealach na Bà and headed down to the Applecross Inn to meet Ali, the writer and photographer behind ApplecrossLife – a fascinating insight into an isolated community.

I was on a mission – Ali provided me with some fine quotes for Golf in the Wild and I wanted to give him a copy of the book. As a non-golfer I am not sure how useful/welcome this might be but when the winter comes I understand it makes a fine eco-friendly fuel 🙂  It was a shame that he was working and we were on a tight schedule heading north but I am very pleased we made the effort to call by – it was good to meet you Ali!

The book has brought me into contact with a wide range of different people, all of them at a distance by email. Part of this trip has been about meeting everyone in the flesh and it has been a delight.  The rest of the trip is research for the sequel: Golf in the Wild – Coming Home.  My ‘caddy’ remains remarkably patient bearing in mind that she has been agitating for a visit to warmer climes.  At Christmas I took her to the Arctic and this was the weather coming over the pass on Sunday 😀

Storm brewing ... Passing Place ... Above the snow line... At the summit ...

Wow– Brrrrrrr!! This is a terrific set! It’s hard for me to imagine this weather this time of year where I am… It’s sunny and warm. (I especially enjoyed the 3rd image.)
I also wanted to let you know that my blog has changed. I lost all my content and followers during a transfer. If you would still like to follow me, my new blog address is: west517photos.wordpress.com

Awesome photos. It’s always interesting when you meet bloggers you’ve “known” online in real life. I’ve done it twice. So nice to hear your research for the next book is going well. I’m really enjoying your book. I’d definitely say that it’s not just for golfers. Enjoy the rest of your journey. 😀

Many thanks Julie – the research is the best bit. The worst bit is the ‘marketing’/selling. Played http://www.reaygolfclub.co.uk/ today – the weather was so good I am tempted to publish some photos.
(and thanks for the encouraging words re the book).

It looks like a fascinating trip, especially as I like cooler weather and their landscapes … but yes, I think a trip to warmer climes is in store for your very patient caddy! 🙂

It is a grand tour Cindi and it is even getting warmer – the caddy is smiling again 🙂

We are heading to Lapland via Stockholm in the summer but think we will be too far north.

      • Malin H · April 18, 2015

Oh yes, Lapland is too far north from here… But I hope you will enjoy the trip! ❤️
