Mysterious

Weekly Photo Challenge – Extra, Extra:  This mysterious lady appears as though an extra in her own movie.  It was taken near the railway station at Riomaggiore, one of the villages of the Cinque Terre in northern Tuscany.  Photography can be intrusive, particularly when the subject realises what you are doing.  As she turned towards me I was expecting a scowl but instead received a perfectly glorious smile – unforgettable.

The lady withe the glorious smile

Yes, she is very mysterious and quirky in an exotic way.

‘Quirky’, exactly right – it is not obvious from the photo but both her arms are covered in Baubles, Bangles, & Beads. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to talk.

Wonderful, isn’t it great when people surprise us like that……a great reminder not to pre-judge 🙂

Exactly – if she had scowled it would have been just another image. Instead, I am intrigued by who she might have been.

Some people love to be photographed. Fabulous editing on this one…as usual.

Not me 🙂 It was a rushed composition and there was some rubbish off screen to the right. Once she was so close to the right-hand edge I needed to put something on the left – needs must 😉

PS – thanks for the generous comments…

Excellent! Mysterious, and with the monochrome a bit of the yesteryear about it 😉

it looks like one of that victorian ghost photos, great! And to get a smile from a mysterious Lady is a sign for good luck :o)

    • northumbrianlight · June 14, 2014

Many thanks – that could explain everything – life is very good 🙂

And the subject could not be dressed more wonderfully for the ghostly doppelganger moment. What a catch, all ends up.

    • northumbrianlight · June 14, 2014

Thanks Tish – I think it was the hat that first caught my attention, then the baubles, bangles and beads. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if someone popped up on WordPress and said ‘that’s me!’

    Wonderful shot!

You do come up with some amazing shots, Robin 🙂 I love your interpretation of ‘Room’ too.

    • northumbrianlight · June 15, 2014

Thanks Jo – sometimes I think I might be cheating – i.e. raiding the archive :/

      • restlessjo · June 15, 2014

That’s allowed. Isn’t it? 🙂 You have to have taken the shots at some stage. When you tell me you ‘borrowed’ the image, I’ll worry.

      • northumbrianlight · June 15, 2014

I have a distinct advantage – my digital archive goes back to 2000, so plenty to choose from 🙂

Great editing… or is it a ghostly reflection? 🙂

    • northumbrianlight · June 15, 2014

Many thanks Erwin – almost certainly a ghostly reflection 😉

      • Erwin · June 15, 2014

What a wonderful moment… “When you’re smilin’, the whole world smiles with you”… Beautiful image of a beauty, Robin.

    • northumbrianlight · June 16, 2014

Many thanks Malin … and when you’re laughing, the sun comes shining through 🙂

This is wonderful Robin-I love the processing-it appears you have *caught* a bit of her persona-

    • northumbrianlight · June 17, 2014

Thanks Meg – if I captured her soul, she was at least a willing participant 🙂
