Northumberland kite flying

Following on from the previous post, this is evidence that the beach was not entirely empty.  It was a bitter March day with a stiff wind coming in off the sea – not a day for sunbathing but perfect for flying a kite.  The beloved is exiting stage right – a Geordie girl, even she has had enough of the north east’s biting cold for one day:

Kite flying

(just experimenting with soundcloud – a tribute to Wilhelm Reich, it has some vague relevance to this day)

Love the surrealistic feeling in this. 🙂

Thanks Malin – it does have that sort of feel to it and I am not sure why – maybe it is the hooded figure (straight out of Don’t Look Now 🙂 …..the beloved is better looking than that though)

It’s probably everything. The landscape, people that are small silhouettes, the hooded figure, the kite in the air… Everything. Feels like a landscape on the moon …

The wind can make a warm day feel cold, I can imagine how cold it must have felt by the sea in March. What a beautiful photograph, so dramatic!

Many thanks – our north east wind is a particularly cold variety – straight from Siberia 🙂

Windy days on the beach…makes the ears ache just thinking about it.

There is compensation – the golf club clubhouse is adjacent to the beach entrance and they sell excellent bacon sandwiches all year round 🙂

Like kite-flying on the Moon, if it were possible. Wonderful image.

Love the photo and I quite like Kate Bush too. I do think Sound Cloud adds to the image, and keeps people’s attention longer. 🙂

Wonderful shot with almost IR tonality. Ahh, KB’s Cloudbusting brings back memories…

Many thanks Graham – I was surprised how well that image converted to b&w (using OnOne). Cloudbusting is a fantastic track which just never seems to age.
